Delores W. (June) Filtz

Dolores W. "June" Filtz, 85, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 12, 1931, in Chamois, the daughter of John Thomas and Minnie Ople (Keeran) Welch. She was united in marriage on February 27, 1948, to Jack Craig, who preceded her in death on July 20, 1954. Later she was united in marriage on July 31, 1958, to Joseph F. Filtz, who also preceded her in death on November 29, 1987. June graduated in 1948, from Centertown High School where she was the Salutatorian of her class. She and her husband Joe were owners of the The Brite Spot Café in California, Mo. June retired from the State of Missouri after thirty plus years of service where she was a Programmer/Analyst. She served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Centertown High School Alumni Association. June enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and others, sewing, quilting, gardening, traveling, going to the boat and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. June's greatest joy and love was spending time with her family. She is survived by: her six children, Geri Vanderfeltz (David Vittetoe) of Wymore, Neb., Greg Craig of Jefferson City, Debbie Niemeyer (Earl Busing) of Pickrell, Neb., Russell Filtz of Washington, DC, Patti Suling (Scott) of Eldon, Diana Miller of Jefferson City; one sister, Catherine Barsick of Denver, Colo.; aunt, Ruth Stewart of Ariz.; 16 grandchildren, Jay Murphy (Jeannine), Jacque Borzekofski (Paul), Jeff Murphy (Kelli), Cory Craig (Lacy), Shawn Hatfield (Crystal), Jason Hatfield (Tara), Jack Craig, Jonna Adams (Dusty), Josh Craig (Shannon), Nathan King, Justin Craig (Ashley), Shelby Niemeyer, Wyatt Suling, Walker Suling, Joe Filtz, Alyssa Filtz, 33 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents, two husbands, two brothers, Perry Welch and Jack Welch and his wife, Emma; grandson, Scott Craig; granddaughter, Jayna Murphy; great-granddaughter, Nichole Murphy; son-in-law: John Vanderfeltz; and brother-in-law: Mark Barsick. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Pastor Trenton Klebba officiating. Interment will follow in Centertown Cemetery.
