Donald Atkinson

Donald Atkinson, 75, Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born on August 2, 1941, in Miller Co. Mo., the son of Harold Atkinson and Juanita Howser Atkinson both of who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Jefferson City High School. He later married Carol Plaster in Cedar City, Mo., on April 13, 1968, whom survives of the home. Donald was an inspector for MODOT for 35 years until his retirement. He also was an Army National Guard Veteran for 35 years. He was a member of Capital West Christian Church in Jefferson City, Mo. Donald enjoyed HAM radio, traveling and was a Life member of Masonic Lodge 43 in Jefferson City where he received his 50 year pin in December of 2014. Survivors include: his wife, Carol Atkinson of the home, two sons, Mike Atkinson and wife Cyndi of Columbia, Mo., Mark Atkinson of J.C. Mo.; two brothers, Gene Atkinson and wife Susan of J.C. Mo., Roger Atkinson and wife Linda of Chesterfield, Mo., two sisters, Mary Ann Ruth, Janis Conrey and husband Jim all of J.C. Mo. Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at the funeral home. Officiated by Rev. Ken Harlan. Inurnment will be held at the Centertown Cemetery at a later date.
