George Frederick Oesterly

George Frederick Oesterly IV, age 77, of Festus, Missouri, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Festus. He was born February 4, 1942 in California, Missouri, the son of the late Dollie Susie Mae (nee Strother) and George F. Oesterly III. He was retired from the Missouri Department of Health where he assisted the elderly in the Division of Senior Services. He also enjoyed his interactions with clients as a shoe salesman after his retirement. An avid reader, artist, and music enthusiast (especially Jazz, Blues, and the "original Rock & Roll"), he took great pride in his family heritage and traveled to Germany twice, studying his ancestry. George liked conversing about the lessons of history and current events. With a true commitment for the wellbeing of others, he balanced his kind and gentle temperament with a quietly keen sense of humor. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home in Pevely, Missouri, officiated by Bro. Colton Strother, Associate Pastor with First Baptist Church of DeSoto, Missouri. Interment will be in California City Cemetery. Memorials in his memory are preferred to Moniteau County Library, 501 South Oak Street, California, MO 65018.
