Kenny Ashley

Kenny Ashley, 57, of California, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019 at his home. He was born on April 23, 1962 in California, Missouri, to John and Marjorie (Williams) Ashley. In 1980, Kenny graduated from California High School. He was a lifelong farmer. Through the years, Kenny worked at MFA, and retired from Cargill after 30 years. On September 12, 2004, Kenny was married to Lee Ann Reed, who survives of the home. He loved God, family and farming. Kenny was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. His favorite past times were playing with his grandchildren, fishing, mushroom hunting, and working with his cattle dogs. From gardening to raising livestock, Kenny had a passion for providing food and fellowship with his family and friends. Kenny is survived by five children: John Paul Ashley, Austin Wayne Ashley (Nikki), Kathryn Elizabeth Nivens, Jessica LeeAnn Nivens, and Kurtis Daniel Ashley (Hannah); five grandchildren, Natalie Ann Asmus, Faith Myrene Ashley, Michael John Ashley, Audrey Lynn Ashley, and Emma Rose Ashley; nine siblings, Carol Williams (Art), Linda Ashley, Larry Ashley, Stephen Ashley (Beverly), Michael Ashley (Belinda), Anita Groepper (Monty), Rebecca Moore, Dale Ashley, and Robert Ashley (Kim); and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his brother, John David Ashley in 2011. Funeral services were held Friday, May 31, 2019 at First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Rev. Justin Houston officiating. Interment was at Hickman Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church or Hospice Compassus.
