Verna Gillilan

Verna Gillilan, 80, of California, Missouri passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Capital Region Medical Center Jefferson City, Missouri. She was born on June 23, 1932 in Jefferson City, Missouri to Edward and Elsie (Boeger) Kormann. Verna graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1950. She was a longtime member of the California United Church of Christ. She worked at Employment Security where she met Curt. She was married to Dean "Curtis" Gillilan on December 31, 1958, who survives of the home. From 1961 - 1973 she was a mom and a homemaker; 1973-1981 worked with her husband on their turkey farm, then from 1981-1984 she worked at MO Wood and from 1984 through her retirement in 1996 she was employed with the Department of Revenue. Verna is also survived by: Two sons, Keith Gillilan (Ed Brandon)and Kevin Gillilan (Kitts); one daughter Lisa Clutter(Donald); five grandchildren, Abbey, Austin, Haley and Mallory Gillilan and Hannah Clutter; five step grandchildren, Brandi Bexten, Megan and Lauren Crider, Michael Clutter and Aaron Nelson; three great grandchildren, Kasen Alber, Audrey and Branden Bexten and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Libbert. Friday, January 25, 2013 a memorial service was held at the California United Church of Christ with Rev. Dr. Paul Branstetter officiating. Inurnment at Evangelical Cemetery will be held at a later date.
