Kenneth Alan Vaughan, 74, of California, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at his home. He was born on June 03, 1938, in Clarksburg, Missouri to William and Jessie (Hayes) Vaughan. He attended Clarksburg School and graduated from Tipton High School. On June 26, 1982, Kenneth was married to Angela Austin in Stockton, Mo. Ken enjoyed sports, traveling, family vacations to Disney, and spending time with his grandchildren. He owned and operated Ken Vaughan & Sons Construction Co., Inc. since 1960. He developed the Village Green Shopping Center and nine subdivisions in California and Jefferson City. During his fifty plus years in business, he built too many homes to count, multiple senior housing developments and rental properties. He was always dedicated to moving the California community forward. In addition, Kenneth also owned and operated Vaughan Foundation Company, Ben Franklin, The Home Center, Grape Vine Restaurant and the Village Green Flower Shop. Kenny has always been a strong supporter and donor to the California School District and all youth activities. Ken was a member of the California First Baptist Church. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Angela Vaughan of the home; daughter, Janet Gerhart (Ron) California; two sons, David Vaughan (Connie) and Danny Vaughan (Stephanie) all of Jefferson City; three stepdaughters, Cholly Alldredge (Phillip), St. Charles, Courtney Hees (Kent) and Christiane Goans (Kenny) all of California; 15 grandchildren: Matthew, Ryan and Samantha Gerhart; Ashley Edelbrock (Adam) and Kelsey Vaughan; Curtis, Lyndsey and Casi Vaughan; Lauren and Levi Alldredge; Trystan and Rylee Hees; Tylere, Ashtyn and Kenzleigh Goans; two sisters, Elaine Lymer (Larry) of Boonville, and Gerry Clevenger (Jerry) of Sarasota, Fl; one brother-in-law, Terry Hill of Mexico, Mo.; one sister -in-law, Paula Austin of California and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by one sister, Darlene Hill. Funeral services were on Monday, March 25, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in California with Rev. Greg Morrow officiating. Interment was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Kenneth Vaughan Memorial Fund--Moniteau Co.
