Wilma Lee Thompson

Wilma Lee Thompson, 95, of California, MO passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Moniteau Care Center in California, MO. She was born on June 7, 1918 in rural Latham, MO the daughter of Rufus Hofstetter and Mona (Knife) Hofstetter. She was married December 1, 1934 in Tipton, MO, to Hughie C. Thompson who preceded her in death on July 17, 1972. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in California, MO. She worked at the Latham Hospital in California, and worked 27 years for Dr. Lionel Gallagher's office in California MO. She was a graduate of the Latham High School. She is survived by two daughters; LaDonna Hand (Neil) of Keokuk, IA, Connie Hayes of Fort Worth, TX, four brothers; Don Hofstetter of California, MO, Dale Hofstetter of Jefferson City, MO, Ross Hofstetter of Boonville, MO, and Kay Hofsetter of Tipton, MO, four sisters; Delores Bestgen, Darlene Matthews of California, MO, and Ramona Luebbert and Gene Coale of Jefferson City, MO, 3 grand-children, Stefanie Wirths (Curtis) of Camdenton, MO, Stuart DeLong of Scottsdale, AZ, and Sara French (Michael) of Austin TX, 6 great-grandchildren Keegan,Cale, McKenna Wirths of Camdenton, Arabella, William French of Austin TX, Stella DeLong of Scottsdale, AZ, 3 step-grandchildren, Tony Hand and family of Alexandria, MO, Diane Cunningham and family of Keokuk, IA, and James Hand and family of Keokuk, IA. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Gilbert and Vernon Hofstetter and 1 sister Nadine Garber. Funeral services were at United Methodist Church Sunday, November 24, 2013. Interment was in California City Cemetery. Officiating was the Rev. Eric Moore and assisted by Mr. Jack Bowlin.
