Johnnie Herbert Shelton, 81, of Clarksburg, MO, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Capital Region Health Center in Jefferson City, MO. He was born on January 12, 1933 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Herbert and Cleo (Cox) Shelton, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married first to Janice (Finley) Shelton and later married Mary F. (Wood) Shelton on April 20, 1985 whom survives of the home in Clarksburg, Mo. Johnnie was a mechanic by trade and worked for the Eldon School District as a diesel mechanic of which he retired from in 1995. He enjoyed working on small engines, gardening, fishing and racing. His favorite love was for the outdoors which he enjoyed as much as possible. He served in the United States Army state side for four years. He is survived by two daughters; Sheryl Anne Martin of Eldon, Mo. and Marybeth (Shelton) O'Connor and husband Phillip of Kansas City, MO, two stepdaughters, Martreta Battles and husband David of Clarksburg, MO, Myra Lutz and husband Allan of California, MO, one stepson, Lanny Carpenter and partner Karen Lawson of Clarksburg, MO, three grandchildren, ten step- grandchildren, two great grandchildren, twenty one, great step grandchildren and two great-great-step grandchildren. Johnnie was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Wade Shelton and one granddaughter, Courtney Martin. Interment, visitation and graveside services will be at a later date.
