William Robert Dawson

William Robert Dawson, 84, Tipton passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 at Tipton Oak Manor. He was born September 15, 1929, in San Bernardino, California, the son of Mrs. G. H. Weaver, who preceded him in death. He married Mary Joan Stratman of Tipton, MO on October 2, 1949. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church, Tipton, serving as a deacon and also Music Director for 55 years. He served as treasurer for the City of Tipton, Moniteau County R-VI, the Salvation Army, Tipton Cemetery Association and Concord Baptist Association for many years. He was a member and Past Patron of Tipton OES and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Bill worked at Commerce Bank of Tipton for 30 years. Over the years he ran his own wedding photography business and was a photographer for the Tipton Times. Surviving is his wife, Mary Joan of the home; three children, Linda Harkins, Tipton, Diane (Bill) Cary, Jefferson City and Robert (Susan) Dawson, Columbia; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grand children. Funeral services were Thursday, May 22, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Tipton. Rev. David Stephenson officiated. Memorials can be made to the Music Ministry at First Baptist Church, Tipton, Missouri.
